What synastry actually measures
Synastry lays one chart over another and looks at the angles between the two sets of planets. A conjunction between one person’s Venus and the other’s Mars is a different kind of contact from a square between two Saturns, and both of them describe something real about how two people land on each other.
What it does not do is rank couples. Hard aspects between charts show up constantly in long, good relationships — they are where the friction lives, and friction is also where most of the growth is. Anyone selling you a compatibility score as a decision is selling you something the technique cannot deliver.
Questions people actually ask
Why not one compatibility percentage?
Because it would be made up. Four dimensions with the aspects behind them named is the most honest thing the maths supports: you can see that a score is high because two Venuses are trine, and decide for yourself what that is worth.
What is a composite chart?
The midpoint chart between the two — treated as the chart of the relationship itself rather than of either person. It is the standard technique, and it is computed here alongside the inter-chart aspects.
Do we both need birth times?
No, but the more of them you have the more the reading can say. Without a time, houses and angles are unavailable for that person and any aspect to them is left out rather than estimated.
Is it fair to enter someone else’s birth details?
That is a real question and worth sitting with. Nothing here is stored against an account, but if you want a reading you can both see, the app can send them an invite link so they enter their own details themselves.
